Hi, I’m Shay Kashif,
the owner of Caked By The Ocean Bakery,
and a cheesecake fanatic!
Four years ago it would’ve been hard to believe I am where I am now. Pre-pandemic my love for baking was in an upswing. Making my favorite dessert (cheesecake of course) for my home, coworkers, and family was my passion. Unfortunately, I was also working 40 hours a week at a restaurant that made me unhappy. With that said, my coworkers kept me motivated and were actually my first paying customers.
With a confidence boost and a couple photos of my work, I began curating my Instagram and Facebook pages. I knew the best way to build up a good reputation was by word-of-mouth. So with permission from my mother, and the grace of kitchen cabinet space, I began building a business. We went from one KitchenAid to two. A cabinet in the corner to two industrial storage cabinets of supplies and hoping to soon have a studio.
Currently I am working part time in retail and a part-time college student. But, I’ll always be a full-time entrepreneur, or as I like to call myself the crazy cheesecake lady! Taking it all in stride and maintaining a balanced schedule is the only way to stay sane but it’s all worth it. How I’m able to do this is the same reason why I do this.

Fun facts:
My favorite cheesecake flavor is white chocolate raspberry. The perfect balance of sweet and tart!
I love spending time by the water whether it be beach or pool. Its the Brazilian in me I’m sure.
Going to college to become a dental hygienist. So if you have to much of a sweet tooth I can patch you up!
My dream is to one day have a brick and mortar location here in Jax, either at the beach, riverside, or Mandarin.
COMPANY NAME
You probably assumed the company name came from the popular “DNCE” Song, which is only partially true. I love that her baking is transcontinental. Growing up here in Jacksonville and in Brazil I’ve always been close to the beach. I guess I’ve always been baking cakes by the ocean!
